Scholarship Description: We welcome candidates especially from the disciplines of history, anthropology, law, sociology, political science, and area studies. Applicants should be at the postdoctoral level or senior scholars. We would like the proposed projects to employ a historical and transregional perspective. Also, please do not only focus on work/ labour, but also on life course. Possible topic areas are, among others, the household, loss of work, the relationship between work and non-work, as well as free and unfree labour. We welcome proposals about all regions of the world and especially those that look at comparisons, conflicts, relations between different regions. In any case, a global history perspective has to be taken into consideration. The fellowships will begin on 1 October 2012 and end on 31 July 2013. Shorter fellowship terms will be possible. Fellows will receive a monthly stipend, which can be individually negotiated, and are obliged to work at the research center in Berlin. A fully equipped office will be provided as well as organizational help for visa, housing, etc. During the fellowship, we also encourage fellows to introduce their work to wider audiences in the scientific community in Berlin.

The Heinrich Böll Foundation awards scholarships to German and foreign students in keeping with the guidelines provided by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Federal Foreign Office (AA). The scholarship covers Bachelors, Masters, and PhD studies.

Eligibility:
The following general requirements apply to foreign applicants (except EU citizens) who wish to study in Germany:
• You must be enrolled at a state-recognized university or college (e.g. Fachhochschule) in Germany at the time the scholarship payments begin.
• You should provide proof that you have already graduated with an initial professional qualification. This programme mainly supports students aiming for a Masters degree.
• You need a good knowledge of German, and we kindly ask you to provide proof of your proficiency. Please note that the selection workshop (interviews, group discussions) will normally be in German. Exceptions (interview in English) are, however, possible.
• Unfortunately, the current guidelines specify that we can not support foreign scholarship holders for stays abroad in third countries for more than four weeks.
The following requirements apply to all German and non-German students wishing to pursue a Masters degree or post-graduate studies:
• You should definitely apply for a scholarship before the start of your studies, in order to ensure long-term support and cooperation.
• The Heinrich Böll Foundation cannot award you a scholarship, if you are studying for a one-year Masters degree and were not previously supported by the foundation.
• Tuition fees for fee-paying courses in Germany cannot be financed by the Heinrich Böll Foundation.
The following requirements apply to PhD-students from outside the EU:
• Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent and must have been accepted as a doctoral student by a German institution of higher education.

Study in Germany: 9 Erasmus Mundus Scholarship for Masters-Oslo University College

For the year 2011-2013, there are 9 scholarships available for third country students, 7 scholarships for students from the EU/EEA-EFTA states and 1 scholarship for students from the area of Western Balkans and Turkey.

Category A scholarships. A Category A scholarship may be awarded to third country nationals, who are not residents nor have carried out their main activity (studies, training, work) for more than a total of 12 months in an EU-EEA country. The category A scholarship amounts to a monthly allowance of 1000€ per month which equals 12000€ per year for two years. In addition the students will receive a contribution to travel and installation costs at the beginning of each school year of 4000€, coming to a total of 8000€ for the two-year course. The tuition fees will be covered by the scholarship.

Category B scholarships. A Category B scholarship may be awarded to students from the EU-EEA area, as well as third country students who has been residing in the EU-EEA area for more than 12 months within the last five years. The scholarship amounts to 500€ per month/6000€ per year for two years, plus coverage of tuition fees. Category B students will not be awarded travel and installation costs.

The scholarships for the EU-EEA students should not be considered as a full scholarship, but rather as a contribution. Students are allowed and encouraged to also have other sources of funding (e.g. student loands, other scholarships\grants from their home countries).

It is not possible to apply for a scholarship without a place on IMEC. Once you have been accepted to as a student on IMEC, the IMEC consortia will apply for a scholarship on your behalf.

The IMEC consortia can also admit students who do not receive scholarships. There students must have funding from elsewhere to cover the tuition fees.

* By Third country-students, we mean citizens coming from all countries other than:
o The 27 EU Member States (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, The UK)

Study in Germany: ARThinkSouthAsia Fellowship 2011

The ARThinkSouthAsia Fellowship is designed to help develop skills, knowledge, networks and experience of potential leaders in the cultural sector of South Asia which include museums, the visual and performing arts and digital media. We believe that by supporting exceptional individuals to make a step-change in their skills and career potential, we can bring substantial benefit to the cultural field as a whole.

Fifteen fellows will be selected from across South Asia.
The Fellowship includes-
• A two week residential course from in March
• A secondment / internship in Germany over the fellowship year
• A concluding seminar in March the following year

The two week residential course is designed to include a balance of theory and professional training and will consist of five to six modules which include latest thinking in cultural management in areas such as strategic planning, project management, strategic finance and fundraising, marketing, communication, and internet technologies amongst others. These modules will be led by a mix of Indian and international professional trainers and academics and will be supplemented by expert guest lectures. Participation in the residential programme is mandatory.

Each participant will be offered a funded four week secondment / internship best suited to his/her needs, interests and objectives in a cultural organization in Germany during the year. The Fellow will attend a closing seminar at the end of the Fellowship year to present and share updates on his/her project and learnings of the secondment with next years batch of fellows.

Each year, an independent selection committee of academics and international education experts is assembled to select the Undergraduate Scholarship grantees. This committee is looking for students who: are currently second and third year students and will be in their third and fourth year during their stay in Germany are seeking DAAD support for a 4-10 month period in Germany during the German academic year. possess outstanding academic records and personal integrity, as evinced by both their grades and letters of recommendation. have well-defined study, research or internship plans for their stay in Germany. submit the DAAD language evaluation form with their application, although German language competency is not mandatory. demonstrate an interest in contemporary German and European affairs and who explain the significance of their project in Germany to their future studies, research or professional goals. are enrolled, full-time students in an undergraduate degree-granting program at an accredited college or university. will return to te home country after the scholarship period to complete their Bachelor's degree. Terms of Award Scholarships may be granted for a minimum of four (one semester) and a maximum of 10 months (one academic year). Recipients will be awarded a monthly stipend of approximately € 650, plus additional funds to help defray travel and research expenses as well as health insurance.
