The Faculty of Computer Science of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (FUB), Italy, offers an opening for 10 positions. 2 of these positions are offered in the area of database technologies in
the DIS Centre.

DEADLINE: October 14, 2011

A PhD studentship amounts to 51,000 Euro over the three years of the PhD. By working as teaching assistant you can increase your salary. Substantial funding is available for participation in international conferences, schools, and workshops.

Relevant PhD topics in the database area include the following:
* Query processing in spatial network databases
* Advanced processing of temporal aggregation queries
* Clustering time-varying contentАав┬а
* Similarity operators in database systems
* Data warehousing and mining

We seek highly motivated PhD candidates with a good background knowledge in databases. Good proficiency in English is expected, as well as an outstanding M.Sc. degree. Candidates should be able to work well independently as well as in small teams, and have excellent
communication and social skills.
